Message from Jon Vincent; College Principal and Chief Executive:

As you may know, the Further Education Lecturers' Association of the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS-FELA) have announced that they will be taking strike action at all colleges throughout Scotland on Wednesday 16 January 2019.  This national day of strike action has arisen as a consequence of a break-down in negotiations between EIS-FELA and the Colleges Scotland Employers’ Association over a cost of living pay increase.

EIS-FELA have indicated that if the dispute remains unresolved they will take further strike action on 5 February 2019, 6 March 2019 and 21 March 2019.

EIS-FELA members are under no obligation to inform us of their intention to strike or not, therefore we are unableto guarantee that students who attend on those days will have a lecturer to cover their classes.  On that basis, we have no option but to cancel all day classes scheduled for 16 January 2019.

The College sincerely regrets and fully understands the adverse impact the national strike action may have on our students.  The current situation is extremely undesirable; however, please be assured that the College is committed to providing every student with a positive and purposeful learning experience and will continue to do so.

I will endeavour to keep you fully updated on this situation.
